does anyone know a good site for rebuild kits on brake master cylinder?

 

Well honestly, most people do not rebuild them, they just replace them dude. Too much work to have to take it apart and put back together. Make sure you bench bleed it when you are done though.

 

yeah i know i would just like to rebuild one though. i have 2 hondas and can take time when workn on either.

 

It's a dying art, and almost never done anymore. Why?

Product Liability: (the manufacturer is liable rather than the shop)
Time: Who's got time to rebuild one?
Productivity:
Shop safety: Who wants caustic cleaners underfoot on the chance that you "might" rebuild a cylinder some day?

Yea rebuilding one would be alot of work. As a matter of coincidence my master cylinder just went out on my '91 yesterday...grrrr. Well anyway I called my local parts store and they have a re-manufactured one in stock for $40.49.

Just look around- there usually not more than $80.

 

OEM-rebuilt = $40 from NAPA/Advanced Auto

 

yeah i work for a mechanics shop and can get a master cylinder at the owners cost plus 10%. just thought i would try and rebuild one.

 

Well, if you want an educational experience; tear apart the customer's old one. Once inside you'll get a better appreciation for flushing the brake fluid occasionally. It's quite surprising how it attacks the interior bore

yeah that break fluid seems to eat up alot of stuff
