Those are two entirely different things. Catback refers to exhaust that is from the cat(alytic converter) back. Straight pipe refers to replacing the cat with a pipe. It's not a full exhaust.

I would highly recommend going with catback, safe, doesn't void warranty, not as likely to mess up the factory tune, and they sound better in my opinion. I have the Buddy Club pro spec on my car and I love it, pricey but sounds great and is supposed to net me about 4-7 to the ground, another good system for it is the Skunk 2 catback, those are really the only 2 major companies that I know of that make a good system for our cars.

do catback, there are alot of different brands out there,,,, skunk2, Greddy, Buddyclub, LSD, etc. Dont do straight pipe cus youll burn the muffler out alot faster and yes warranty will be an issue,,, if anything get a catback setup with a hi-flow cat and you will be impressed!!! GUARANTEED!!!! hahahaha

lol i agree, sorry they are both two different parts of the exhaust system, i dont think you would put in a straight pipe before at least getting a catback or cold air, but hey your build is your build and its nobody else's place to tell you anything ...

any exhaust mods will only see its full potential when complimented with [intake] mods.
anyone on here seen the PCM throw a code when straight-piped or high flow catalyst is used on these 4cyl. engines?

i hope you didn't buy it from that site cuz that's a rip. when i had a straight pipe on my gsr i bought a pack of 2 defoulers from a local auto parts store for $7. i just had to make the hole bigger for the o2 to fit.

that would depend on what the cel is for. if it's for the secondary o2, then yes, a defouler would kill the light.

great. then read the thread. if you use a defouler on the secondary o2 then the cel won't light up with a straight pipe.

if you know that a cel won't light up with a straight pipe, then why'd you say it would?

i wasnt intentionally trying to say a CEL would light up or go ahead and just buy a catback but from what i can tell he is confused so i said go buy the exhaust system that you like the best so he can save himself from thinking too much about a defouler or CEL
