Radiator fan not coming on in my turbo ls
Ok first of all, i have no a/c, so i took off the a/c fan.
yesterday myradiator breaks on the bottom. I buy a new one, replace it, refill it properly and im on my way. Then, today, i had been driving around for awhile and i get to my friends house and i noticethe temp needle going up. i pull in, and steam is coming from the hood. i pop the hood, and there is hot air coming from the hose that goes into the radiator fluid resevoir. hmm..........take off my radiator cap and its busted, so we replace that and fush and refill the system. it runs fine and it didnt overheat on the way home (15 minutes). but we let it idle for a good 5-10 mintes and the fan never came on. also when i got home, i popped the hoodand again there was no fan. did we fix the problem or should the fn be coming on at idle? the needle stays SLIGHTY on the cold side. if the fan werent coming on would it affect anything?
thanks to anyone who can help

my LS turbo did the same exact thing. check you fuse for your fan. mine was busted. I replaced it and it kept blowing. I still to this day have no idea why.
hmmm...i would check all of the obvious reasons...and maybe check on your altenator too. If the alt. is bad or going bad then it will display the symptoms that you are describing....if you want a way to make sure it IS or IS NOT your altneator OR fuse or what have you, you can wire the *positive wire from the fan to your *positive battery terminal and vice versa for the negative....but be warned this will keep your fan on even if your car is turned off and it will drain the hell out of your battery...but it is an easy way to test for something as far as where the problem lies with your fan or alt.
Man radiator fans started actin funny like that .. . coming on at random .. and not when it was suppose to .... had to replace Thermostat and fan turn on switch .. thats in thermostat housing or whatever
