Default shorty header question

hey guys...

i am planning on purchasing a header of some sort and i was just wondering will a shorty header provide me with any performance gain? or is it just worth putting out a little more money for a race header, such as a DCRH?

thanks for the help guys

it will give you somewhat of a gain. not as much as a race header though.

good choice! some advice i must give you about it since im running it as well.

1.) you need to buy a defouler for the o2 sensor so u wont through a check engine light.

2.) idk if this is happening to other people, im gonna start a thread about this though. but i think the dcrh is slightly short and it pulls the exhaust foward, so when you really beat on the car, sometimes the hangar on the muffler will catch something, forcing the muffler to go up into your bumper like how mine is right now.

3.) be prepared for the cancer inducing smell when you stop.

i dont think its short. might be the fact that it is not bolted down to the block(i belive thats where the mount is) like the stock header. that makes it move mroe.

hahaha thats funny you ask me that. there was one instance at mt. wilson. we got pulled over for sitting at the top enjoying the view. but anyways, he asked me to rev my motor and he said that it sounded kinda weird. then he walked behind my car flashed the light on my exhaust and didnt say anything. im surprised he didnt notice the smell, cuz i know i did and it was very strong.

but i keep it low key when i drive. and besides, even if they pop my hood, you cant see the header anyways. and i know cops are too lazy to get on the ground and actually look up under there, especially if its lowered.

I am currently running the CT-Engineering short header and your correct, no heat sheild. I have decided to change out the short header to a race header. Not sure which one yet.

i would go with the dcrh or the strup.

if you really want to spend money, get the toda race header. thats what i plan on getting when i get the money. then im going to sell my dcrh.

1250 for a header and 1000 for the catback FTW! You would have to go test pipe with that header wouldn't you?

its a 1 piece race header. which means it deletes the cat. just like the dcrh, strup, buddy club, vibrant, and whatever other brand there is.

i know by experience that anything from toda is beyond top of the line. you can get a custom 2 1/2 inch exhaust to match the header instead of spending another grand.

usually when you buy full racing headers like the buddy club or toda you dont need to worry about a test pipe, you get a flex pipe that is pretty much the same straight through piping your looking for, also 1250 is about the general cost of racing header from those major companys but with alittle shopping around you can find some good prices like 750 or 650 for toda or even 350 for buddy club, of course sometimes its second hand and you do risk finding problems ... good luck though ... oh and what catback costs 1000, it better be AMUSE R1 or else you may be spending alittle too much ...

I'll look into that. Thanks.

i didnt buy it in the states, i had them brought over from the philippines ... LOL ... from a warehouse not a dealer ... but yea the 350 i heard of was some guy on the dc5 side of the forums saying they were used and some spring was missing from the header so obviously the price is pretty low ... i know you cant buy too many parts for cheap but if you shop around and look for any possible connection you may find exactly what your looking for ...

well the dc5 models are older and the quantity produced far exceeds
the fg/fa models, which are newer and there are far less in quantity which accounts for the price difference.
