2000 Civic Si stolen and recovered... what should I check?
I've lurked around here for a while, but hadn't had much topic-worthy until now.
My 2000 Si was stolen about a week and a half ago. I thought I wouldn't see it again, but it was recovered a few days ago. It had 18,050 miles before it was stolen. It was apparently driven another 100. Surprisingly, the body's perfect, and no interior bits are missing. Of course the wheels and tires are gone. It now has four "donut" spares!
So... I'm assuming the car was driven fairly hard during that 100 miles. Aside from the obvious stuff like trans. fluid and oil changes, what should I look for? Can I look at the clutch disc through a cover plate or something without pulling the trans? My insurance is paying for a four-wheel alignment, but they won't pay for any drivetrain inspection. I've asked for a compression check... and I'll pay for it.
Thanks for any input...

Check to make sure your disc brakes are still there. Front and rear sway bar, little pieces on the motor. A compression test shouldnt really cost anything if you have the tester. Most people who work on cars have them and it only takes a few minutes. I doubt those goones knew anything if all they took was your wheels.
i wouldn't worry about it do a compressino test and take a road test...i doubt they caused any damage in 100 miles esp if they took the wheels. why would they do burnouts and such w/ tires that they are going to put on thier own car? even i couldn't break i b16 in a 100 miles
Do what jackson said and you will be good to go. If the motor is messed up make sure to tell your insurance company about it, but it probably is fine.
Right... the donut spares look surprisingly good. If the donuts were driven hard, I'd think it would be obvious. I've looked over the car for other missing stuff... nothing but tires and wheels are gone. Even the Si-specific stuff like the strut bar, shift ****, and brakes are there. If they wanted the wheels so badly, I wish they hadn't taken the whole car. Thieves suck.
work it out with ur insurance company and a honda dealer..have them go thru the car and fix everything back to new..u might get hit with a deductable but no point s against u...ur lucky tonite
It still amazes me that someone is willing to go to jail over a set of wheels. If any of these fools had ever seen the inside of a jail cell they'd think twice.
