What are you building it for? Because you are really about to start a very long debate that's been going on for ages.....well not really "ages" but you get the point. If you want a decent powered Daily driver with great torque stick with the H23. But if you like to rev the **** out the car go with an H22 so you don't end up spinning a bearing on the H23 and end up buying another motor or rebuilding it anyways.

But that is just my opinion, trust me someone will pop up and contest every word I just said.

dman2229, please tell us what you are looking for... purpose of vehicle, expectations of motor, you are asking a vague question that anybody can put their 2 cents in about but will most likely not answer your question. I agree with DK4ever...

If you want best performance then you will need an H22. What sort of 'visual mods' does it have? ( I am slightly worried :p)

h22, h22, h22 if your gonna keep it NA
or h23 for boost :D, than u don't got to do anything with compression. Cheaper motor will save you money to boost it later. Than and you don't need a new ECU than as you mentioned it was an h23 anyway.

I like the h23 motor. I like the low end power/torque. Seems like the factory tune sucks *** though. It runs my car pretty rich.

Whats your budget anyway? If you only paid 300 thats not a bad start at all regardless if theres not motor. You can sell all those things you don't like that you pulled off your car too.

Whats left of the motor/tranny anyway? anything worth salvaging? Sell evertying you can on H-T even.
