motor
i recently bought a 92 prelude with an H23a1 but the motor was all torn apart it is missing some parts i am going to buy a different motor and swap it out but i dont know if i should go with another h23a1 or an h22 let me know what you all think...please
What are you building it for? Because you are really about to start a very long debate that's been going on for ages.....well not really "ages" but you get the point. If you want a decent powered Daily driver with great torque stick with the H23. But if you like to rev the **** out the car go with an H22 so you don't end up spinning a bearing on the H23 and end up buying another motor or rebuilding it anyways.

But that is just my opinion, trust me someone will pop up and contest every word I just said.

dman2229, please tell us what you are looking for... purpose of vehicle, expectations of motor, you are asking a vague question that anybody can put their 2 cents in about but will most likely not answer your question. I agree with DK4ever...
well i bought the car for 300 it has a lot of visual mods and the only performance mod it has is headers i believe i havent messed with it a whole lot yet...im looking for the best performance
also has aluminum spoiler, hood scoop and had white racing stripes when i got it but now only has the hood scoop on it i took the racing stripes and the spoiler off....

Yay for taking the spoiler off... Yay for peeling off the vinyl....please rip off those jc whitney hood scoops too..... And h22a defiantly...I just dropped in a h22 replacing my h23 and I really like the high reving jdm vtec.....o and it has headers on it??? Like 2 of them?? R u sure?? (Pet peive)
h22, h22, h22 if your gonna keep it NA
or h23 for boost :D, than u don't got to do anything with compression. Cheaper motor will save you money to boost it later. Than and you don't need a new ECU than as you mentioned it was an h23 anyway.
I like the h23 motor. I like the low end power/torque. Seems like the factory tune sucks *** though. It runs my car pretty rich.
Whats your budget anyway? If you only paid 300 thats not a bad start at all regardless if theres not motor. You can sell all those things you don't like that you pulled off your car too.
Whats left of the motor/tranny anyway? anything worth salvaging? Sell evertying you can on H-T even.
