Honda newbie
hey Iam completey new to Honda's and Vtech and anythign about them at all. As my Honda obbess friend would say welcome to the real JDM world.
A little bit about my self. I have had a seriouse amoutn of cars that are hihgly modified by myself since i came back from iraq in 06. frist of all i got a 510AWHP WRX fully modded that i use to race GSX-R 1000 bikes and then i got a 07 350Z then a cam and stroked Evo 8 i think my pattern was just turbo AWD or RWD Z. truth be told a little skeptical about the whole FWD thing. but then i got to drive my friend Jame's RSX with nothing but a intake and a axle back exhuast and i thought to myself .... "NOT BAD".
along with all my cars they all run in to the same thing. PROBLEMS. WRX and EVO is just mechcanical failure waiting to happen.and the Z can't even MOVE in the snow. then brings me to the 2006 RSX type S. i am surprise by the handling and well everyone knows honda and it's surpreme reliabilty and it's just not something you can get from any evo or sti.
so anyways iam going to be buying a 2006 RSX type S from my research it's a K20Z1. I wold really appriciate it if you guys help me out with building it. P.S. if you want to see the video of me racing a GSX-R 1000 in a subaru just message me.

Well congrats on your future buy. The z1 engine is amazing. Before I go further remember its vtec not vtech. Just something kinda annoying.
Well before I or anyone could recommend a build you need to state your goals and intentions. Do you want a reliably just quick N/A car. A really quick reliable 300whp supercharged car. Or what I think is stupid but a highway killing no traction beast from hell 400+whp monster?
N/A builds around 230-250whp
Supercharger 270-300whp
Turbocharger 400+whp

haha people should stop saying vtech..its vtec
i would say add some bolts on first, then k-pro with a tune would be good IMO..but if u want more power then turbo/sc it. the question is how power do you want?

its true you should state how your planning to use the car, N/A for sure is something you can tune to just be reliable or you can make a N/A 300+ too with a K series
I heard of build were using the K24 block and K20 head and alot of internal work, compression out the roof (15.1:1), ITBs, k-pro, etc made well over 300+ horses
toda's N/A '06 RSX make 280 without going all out on their cams nor raising the compression too high either, and its still street drivable with ITBs ... of course money would be the deciding factor in that kind of a build

Thanks guys i mean is the same with building any car. State purpose and plan out the plan of action. You know iam not too big of super power any more. with both the evo and the sti i had to problem of reliabilty and MPG problems. THEY BOTH SUCK.lol even when i had those cars i always said only if i could have VTEC on a 4G or a EJ block would be awesome. I wanna do tastefully and reliabable parts on K20 just making maybe 200WHP flat out maybe 220 WHP would be a huge Power to Weight gain. and still driveable. I decided N/A is to o with this car. Iam in the military now but iam about to go back to college and be a poor college kid. any one had any luck with Apex'i SAFC neo AFC? iam thinking. In-take, Apexi WS2 catback and Megan header and high flow cat. with some throttle bodie spacer, and Brian Crower Stage 2 low lift short duration cams. and a walbro 255LHP and AEM Fuel controller. last but not lease Exedy lighten Flywheel and clutch what you guys think i can make with all that? ohh yeah and super-tech vavle springs and stems.

Forget the Apexi SAFC neo AFC... that is a waste of money better of getting KPRO! Its a must if you want to get the most out of your engine... Everybody will stand by that my friend KPRO is the way to go!!!!
i dont think your mods are very tastefull from how you said tastefull mods....tb spacer...better of with new intake manifold and megan rh just in my opinion wouldnt sound good when someone ask whats under the hood i would step it up with a better header and yea like dave said k pro everything i read everyone just loves k pro

Well please don't...
Only thing to work on a k-series is Hondata. Either reflash or K-pro. The VAFC and NEO don't work for our cars.
On my 05 type-s I made 223whp with:
Injen cold air intake
Hondata IMG
DC Race Header
Greddy Evo II catback
Hondata K-pro
I really suggest staying away from megan racing parts (cheap...) Throttle body spacers aren't worth the money either. For 200hp no need to swap fuel pumps either.
I strongly suggest a similar set-up to my old set-up but add the cams and then add RDX injectors instead of a fuel pump. Stock pump will be fine.

personally with what your looking at you only need a ported RBC (clubrsx sells it), V2 Aem cold air, any headers from the major power brands (i prefer toda though), a cat back with 60mm piping, ignition upgrade like Okada Projects (Coil-on Plugs) with PluseStar Spark Plugs (these parts are expensive but can get you good mpgs and help emissions), a 65mm throttle body from the major power brands (i prefer the 70mm toda), Hondata reflash if you dont want to buy a full kpro tune, and by a jdm itr flywheel and lsd ... that should get you to at least 200 whp if not 220 - 225 whp with reliability (maybe more). The price may be alittle high when it comes to the major brands but if you know how to shop around then you can make away with a good buy like when i found toda racing headers with front lower sway bar for 750, which usually runs for about 1200 ... the set up is all yours though and dont be afraid to experiment you may not always get it right the first time
