Default fabbing some manifolds for my audi

well.. my first time ever fabbing manifolds on anything.. i think its goin pretty well.. after a couple hours this is what i accomplished.

the small pieces are scrap they will be remade out of nicer/unused pipe.

just a note.. equal length would be close to impossible to do on this car.. there is absolutely no room as it is. so please dont ask why i dont do equal length.. IMO its not worth the hassle.

lmk what you think

and the goal.. which i started last year but never got a chance to get the train rollling on it.

single turbo conversion
single 35R/tial housing
VBand everything
tial 40mm
3inch dp.
etc

dont mind the random shop vac hose.. i was just screwing around with things.

Cool project. I want to do the same to mine, I had even thought about putting the turbo in the same spot. However, every time I look at it I notice more stuff that would have to get moved out of the way. Good luck!

the only things i really saw that are NEEDED to be moved were the power steering line from the pump to the rack.. and the spider hose connections.. both are extremely easy to re route

I vaguely remember the heater core lines in there, and that crossover pipe on the back. Maybe it all tucks in there nicely, I gotta look at it all again now!

Have you test-fitted that passenger-side manifold in the car? The 2nd runner looks like it will hit the frame rail, unless it clears it in height. I have spent MANY hours doing these S4 manifolds and they are a BITCH in that area.

Good luck with it, the collectors look good!

i am going to do the 3rd runner tomorrow and test fit when im done. i appreciate the concerns i really value your advice considering you are pretty well known as far as audi fab goes.

but as far as test fitting goes.. b5 a4 frame rail areas are the same as the s4 correct? because i dont have an S4 to mock on.. luckily my roomate just pulled the 2.8 out of his a4.

if i have to adjust i will.. if not. awesome.

and the collectors were built by Generationjdm.. im sure you know him as the maker of the genx kits.

second runner has almost an inch of clearance.. as far as the 3rd runner i just have to bring it in tight torwards the flange and i should be alright

the motor i beleive is also sitting about a inch to a half inch too low in the bay right now as i dont have mounts to put in and actually mount it up.. but i got it as close as i could or thought it is.

here is the revised version so far... i had to change it cause it was too close to the frame rail in my opinion..

looking good man.. i cant wait for my metals to come in (from india... eek) so i can make my manifold for my S2000... good luck with it man.. the rate youre working at is snail-like... but i guess youre in no hurry to get it in your car. that, or you just dont have much time to dedicate to working on it.

post more pics!

just a quick suggestion.. why dont you try moving that #2 runner right next to the #1 runner and run #3 to the bottom of the collector? just a thought?

either way itd end up about the same as far as space goes. it will just be easier this way just because runner 2 and 3 wont interfere with eachother like they would the other way.

If i was working around the cars that were in his shop id be taking forever too. Its hard to get something done on your car when youre drooling on an f430 or Lambo lol

Why would you think people would comment on it not being equal length? Is that what they said over on the vortex or something

lol its soo true.. its because when you come from a honda you're not afraid to work on your own damn cars.. where as people that started on audis are usually all panzys about it.

I stopped posting there altogether. I cannot post anything on there without it getting black-holed, the forum advertisers are on the mods' asses every time I post. Who knows why, and yet, other guys who own shops are in there posting every job they do and no one says anything. Sometimes I think forum admins forget that the very substance of the forum is free content provided by its users, and the more interesting the content, the better. **** 'em ...

yeah it seems vw guys tend to lose the spirit of messing with cars sometimes. It's just fun stuff to share and talk about.

I was just curious why you (OP) mentioned the equal length thing right off. We all know you can make thousands of horsepower without an eq runners here
