Default time for a nice header, any reviews/suggestions?

been paying off the mass bills the past few months, and finally have been able to save up some money for a header/cat combo

now im leaning towrads just a JDM ITR 4-1 with carsound 2.5 cat, but at the same time though i cant justify the price, yet would love to own a masterpeice such as the mugen peice. im even thinking the comptech 4-2-1 wouldnt be too shabby as well

anyone using/used any of the exhaust manifolds listed above? likes/dislikes,etc?

deeply appreciate it....

i wouldnt mind the jdm itr 4-1 just to say i have one but the dc 4-1 (basically the same thing) was rated the best all around

If you can wait to get the header and cat at the same time, the larger JDM collector would be sweet. Especially if the car gets additional work done later

the dc 4-1 hangs way too low....and with neuspeed race fully settled in, well i can see it now "whatch out for that.........BANG"

now that i think about it the itr 4-1 wont have better ground clearance either, i guess i`ll go with the comptech 4-2-1

The DC makes nice power..but from what I've seen..the quality isn't the greatest.

If you want to spend some cash, JG/Edelbrock modded by ImportBuilders would be a sweet header. 2.5" collector would be a good thing.

In any case, I think you'll want to use a 2.5" collector. I know I will when I finally buy a header.

the jdm itr sits maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower then the oil pan, it is alot better then the usdm dc sports 4-1 i used to have

well mine is on a b18b, but i really dont think it can go any higher on a gsr or itr, the top of the header sits very close to the underside of the oil pan.

I've had a DC 4-2-1, and I love it. My top end is not as strong, but in low revs to mid you feel it working. My buddy had the 4-1 and his car takes off in fourth. Your preference.

4-2-1 = except for the Mugen JDM collector Gymhana header

4-1 = so save up and get a JDM ITR 4-1, port it and get a carsoud cat as well. There have been many threads on the skidplates available for the OEM ITR JDM 4-1 header and also DIY versions people have made.

after some thinking ive decided to indeed go with the JDM ITR 4-1 with heatshields of course for that semi sleeper affect, and of course a carsound cat

the hell with the mugen peice, i can get myself a skunk intake manifold and the cat with the money saved.

thanks for the info and replies my hybrid brothers
