Runing different of size tires: Front\Rear, on 2008 Accord Coupe
Hi, I just got a new set of wheels for my 2008 Accord Coupe EXL-navy 4cyl.
Theses wheels are :19" x 8,5" In the front
19" x 9,5" In the rear
First option:
To get as close as my OEM tire specs, I was looking for 245\35\19 all over, wich is the best choice.
***Second option:
In order to maximize a rear wheel drive car look, I was thinking about runing: 245\35\19 in the front
and
245\40\19 in rear
*Honda HFP 19" is mouted on 245\40\19.
**I want to know if there is any real issue about having a bit smaller size tire in the front. Thinking about VSA, ABS...
I want to get the real technical answer.
Thinking about many rear wheel drive cars having different size from front to back...
Hope to get the answer before buying tires for summer.
Thanks a lot,
I appreciate.

So you bought different width wheels, front vs rear, without any reason why?

Rear-wheel-drive cars use different widths because they use different tire sizes, front vs rear. They do this for handling reasons, to provide relatively neutral handling by adding a bit of understeer to the handling of their cars, which otherwise would lean towards oversteer.
Front-wheel-drive cars already have a bit of understeer to the handling, and don't need any more. That's why FWD cars normally use tires and wheels that are the same size at all four corners. This has the additional benefit of allowing the tires to be rotated periodically to even out the wear.
If you can still return/exchange the wheels, you should. Four tires all 245/40-19 fit your car fine. That size is usually approved for mounting on rims 8.0-9.5 inches wide, so you can use either of the widths you mentioned. But stick to the same width front and rear.

I understand all that. The only reason why I took 1"
widder wheel, is to get a 3" lip at rear, and 2" at front. This is something common for style. Anyways, I will probably stick with 245\35\19 all around, that without any problem, since I run all four wheels on same size.
...This is the car of another owner, who did the same wheel set up as mine:

...Many staggered set up are sold even for front wheel drive car:

Nsxtasy, I understand your vision on a mecanic point of view. You're right, that doesn't make any sens.
And not have the same size of tire Front\Rear would definitely increase unsteer, and by the way afftect the VSA system. Your're absolutely right about that!
I'll put then 245\35\19 all around.
In the orhter hand...
I am a detailer, my gold is to improve style before everything. So slightly larger chromed lip at at the back is the way to go in customizing whips. Not in a ingenering way of view.
Since we put that in perperctive, I repect your opinion.

If the staggered wheel widths work for you, fine. The 245/35-19 tires can be mounted on both widths.
Along with two Integras.

Just a last question,
Do you know why The Honda HFP wheel 19" is usually mounted on 245\40\19 , so that isn't the closest diameter as possible from factory 225\50\17.
Also, the v6 models tires are 235\45\18, so that another different diameter.
How come the accord central computer knows the difference between the tires of 4 cyl and v6 model, and also optional HFP 19"...
Is the setting the same for all 4 cyl. and v6 ?
And then, is the 245\35\19 is the most appropriate for my car, Cause Honda tech service kept telling me that for 19" wheel, they recommend 245\40\19
What's your opinion on all that.
Thanks

Here are the actual, calculated numbers for the outer diameter of the tire, and you can see why 245/35 definitely makes sense for a 4-cylinder, but not necessarily for the V6:
V6:
235/45-18: 26.33" (stock)
245/35-19: 25.75" (-2.2 percent)
245/40-19: 26.72" (+1.5 percent)
4 cylinder:
225/50-17: 25.86" (stock)
245/35-19: 25.75" (-0.4 percent)
245/40-19: 26.72" (+3.3 percent)
Yes you're absolutely wright.
So, when the car cumputer odometer is set at factory, It is set with a diameter of an 225\50\17 for 4 cyl, And 235\45\18 for v6.
So 2 different settings....
All wright thanks Bro.
Would you recommend me to use Pro kit Or Sportline spring for daily use?
