Cruise Control Cable or Pulley problem
95 VTEC, AT, w/Cruise Control
I searched the archives but read nothing about a particular problem. Helms says the actuator cable should be in the fully closed position at the pulley wheel.
Next Helms says I should be able to open the pulley wheel and have 5 mm free play (+ or - .5 mm)
My cable pulley does not close all the way and rest on the stop. It is open about 3-4 mm. I also have no free play whatsoever, so it is too tight. In my experience cables usually stretch and do not get tighter. Its highly doubtful that someone put an aftermarket cable on that is too short, since I am not the first owner. But I did not read in the archives where those cables fail. In fact, a local Honda parts guy told me he never seen one break, and never sold one, much less hear of one getting tighter or shrinking.
