Default How to tap valve cover

How are you guys tapping your valve cover at the front?

There is a baffel plate at the front.

Do you drill thru? if yes how do you clean everything out after

Use a stepped drilled bit so you don't drill through the baffle, also known as a unibit. When your done blow out the valve cover with compressed air. To get the rest of the aluminum shavings out fill up your bath tub with water and drop the valve cover in. That should get the rest of the shavings out.

They also make a sort of collar with a setscrew so you drill to a set depth. The baffel shouldn't be cut otherwise the valvetrain will eject oil into your lines.

I cut a 1/4" drill bit down and used the appropriate sized hole saw.

you can also wrap a drillbit with tape as well to limit the depth.
