vtec hits in first but not in any other gears (its a b16a3 with b17 tranny)...ive been told maybe the chip is set to low, maybe the wiring(i checked the wiring its good), the soliond is dirty(cleaned that), oils good. It is throwin a vss code which is code 17 could that be a problem with vtec engagin? If theres anything else i should check please tell me or if anyone else has had this problem enlightin me.

vss is needed for vtec to engage!

 

i had the same problem on my h22, just replace the vss and the problem should go away. its a little expensive for preludes but not sure on b16's, call the nearest junkyards

 

What ECU are you even using?

 

im usein a pr3...and my speedo works and the check engine light doesnt come on all the time the ecu flashes the code thou
