Ok i just got my car back from a guy that re built my motor.
its a B20b with a ls head and its in a 96 hatch
and it used to be an automatic.
It was turbo'd and chipped.

the guy re built my motor and tried putting it back to stock. He did it and i gave him the turbo for it. Well the person that had it before me butchered the wiring harness and cut off the o2 sensor wires and everything.

Im guessing it ran good before because the chip over-rode the o2 sensor problem.

Now that it has a stock ecu back in it with no chip and no o2 sensor wires it runs like CRAP total CRAP. it is also now throwing engine codes. ( o2 sensor, crankshaft position sensor, evap emissions, Automatic code, and several others )

I drive and it feels like it misses really bad... and has a huge loss of power . and then on the way home it was cutting out so bad it died 3 times when i came to a stop, and then when i was driving it would do this thing where i would hit on the gas and nothing would happen at all.... the engine would do nothing. so i pump the gas and it comes back to life a few times. AND THEN it died and would start and die start and die... now its just stuck in some neighborhood.

I called the guy that did the rebuild and he told me my wiring harness is so bad that i need a new one so my o2 sensors will hook up and several other things can hook up. He also said i need a new distributor because the one i have is not OB2.

SO he told me to buy a OBD2 distributor for a b18 or B16. and he also told me to get a wiring harness for a 96 civic OBD2.

do i really buy a wiring harness for a 96 civic even though i have a b20b with a LS head?? and when i get it i would like to hook it up myself is this hard to do? How do you go about changing a wiring harness???? and will it be hard with my automatic switched over to manual?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i dont know what to do Does all this add up????

this is my civic

Yes, you're going to need a 96-98 civic dx harness. Get a manual one since it's converted. If it's completely stock b20 set up. you're going to need to open up your harness and move your primary o2 and secondary o2 sensors to reach where yours are now.

Changing a harness isn't hard it's just time consuming and some of the clips are frustrating if you never changed one out before. It sounds like to me you're going to need help.

I don't know if there's any DIY threads I would start to look for those if you can. btw sounds like you're going to need a stock LS manual ECU if you're throwing an automatic code.

First things first sounds like you have a automatic ecu in there, replace with a manual one then we can go about fixing the cels one by one which you need to list after installing the proper ecu.

id say just go to chasebaysonline.com and have him make you a new one for your application and you wont ever have to worry about it

Go to chasebays if you want to over pay for something a stock harness will work for. By no means am i bashing them, but thats not what this guy seems to be looking for at all. Just locate a 96-98 5 speed harness for a dx and a ls ecu. When you take off the old harness just use tape to mark where and what every plug goes to and use it as a guide.
