I was wanting to do this on my integra, i have an aftermarket exhaust. but would it be better to do it on a stock exhaust?

I dont know too much about it but it looks awesome. I remember a few years back reading a sport compact car issue where they turboed a sohc civic and gave it a cutout like that and i believe it made a significant increase in power. Like it stated though, im not quite sure on how to go about doing it. That setup seems to be with a throttle body modded to the y-pipe.

 

Excuse my ignorance, but where does the exhaust gas/air come out when it is closed?

 

it goes out the normal route as it would if it were any form of exhaust normally.

you guys just now figuring this stuff out? the muscle car guys use this all the time back in the day, most of them were cable operated insteda of electronic haha

when you open up the cutout all the exhaust goes out thru the cutout, when u close the cutout it goes out HOW IT NORMALLY does whats so confusing about a cut out?!??!?

and it sounds like its choking when its closed? i re-watched the video he more than likely has motorwork done

if your doing this to your bone stock integra with just a intake and zero work done to it motorwise or turbo then your just a silly ricer

 

Probably pointless on an N/A car, where too little backpressure can actually be a bad thing. Back pressure is the enemy of turbo cars, so if it's turbo I can see significant gains there.

 

That video is also of a boxer engine in a Subaru. They give off a different exhaust note anyways. So thats most likely the Choking sound. Plus motor work and maybe some aftermarket options on an already stock turbo car

I am actually a muscle car guy, with an '85 Trans Am 305 back home, yeah this is pretty old news. but the fact that i have never seen it (or heard it) in an integra makes me want to do it...

To the OP, I've never seen it on an Integra or any other Honda for that matter. I know the benefits of having them on muscle cars when the motor calls for such things.I'd be interested to see it on a Honda and see what mods were done to accommodate or call for open exhaust/cut outs. If it would be beneficial to my boost plans I may look into it my self.
