my friends has a 1992 prelude si 4ws with a jdm dohc f22b and one day his car started to die so he made it home and we thought it was the alternator so we replace it but the battery was dead so it didn't start we jump started it with the dead battery the car would start but when you took off the jumper cables it would run for a couple seconds and die it. I thought if your had a good alternator the car would stay running with out a battery. so then we went to walmart to get a new battery we put it in and the car worked fine it started and idled we drove around for a while then the next day the car worked fine but the all of the sudden the speedo and the rpm gauge stopped working but the car still ran fine and started. the next day after that he tried to start the car and but it wouldn't turn over because the battery was almost dead. were not sure whats wrong but we think theres a short some were causing the battery to die. has anyone had a problem like this??
I have not had this problem, but I'd bet my paycheck that it's a short. If you're familiar with a multimeter, I recommend you start testing. If you're not, I recommend taking it to an automotive electrician.
