Ep3 clutch conversation...I really need...
Peoples input on a new clutch. I know people are all the time wanting someones opinion on a lip that you can pull up and look at yourself! But... I need people who drive Ep3's to let me know what they think about there aftermarket clutch setups. I Am leaning towards a Competion Clutch after looking through peoples website. I know its a favorite for RSX owners but we don't have the same transmissions. 6 spd. vs. 5 spd. Are they as good for ep3's, I would like something that is gonna get me mileage and be dependable...but not be buttery or soft like my stock clutch was!
What are peoples opinions?

ACT is very good clutch company. Exedy makes the OE clutches which I have seen last a long time. They make good but spendy aftermarket clutches. I have seen good results from Spec Clutches also but they are the lower end of the price scale. Also check out Zoom clutches. They aren't as well known but are pretty good also. I honestly can't tell you which is best from experience on my EP3 because I have the stock clutches. But lots of my friends use ACT clutches with no issues as long as they aren't mistreated.
Stick with Exedy/Daikin; they've proven have the least amount of problems.
Also stick with a OE replacement type disc and pressure plate if you're making stockish torque numbers. There's a reason the stock pressure plate doesn't have a zillion pound clamping force. The stock clutch is neither "buttery" nor "soft" unless it's slipping.

The OE clutch will grab hard if you drive it right!

OP still hasn't answered about how much power he's making...maybe he is scared and doesn't want to tell us

not scared, just busy with school and full time job and a girlfriend i live with! Ive never dynoed the car... Its got a AEM CAI...header, and kpro coming this summer with a tune... Im more interested in clutches that people have on thier own cars and how they feel about them. There are only a couple considerations when it comes to companies and it Exceedy, ACT, CC or stock. I dont want stock. I have really enjoyed my SPEC II clutch kit that i got except for some F'ed up noise when it engaged in first, and the fact that the kit didn't come with a throw out bearing. Thats all i was shooting for!
