Are the LSD shims that are made by Phantom Grip and AZ (the one the JDM honda Parts has) good ?
do they hold good ?
How has the best price on JDM LSDs ?
What is a good LSD that wouldn't hurt your pocket ?

Search, my friend, Search!! But here is a free-be....
In my opinion.... NO! Phantom Grips (and any other LSD that works under the same principal) are no good.
Here is one (of many) link that discuses Phantom Grips:

Oh, and there is no such thing as a "good LSD that won't hurt your pocket." You want a good LSD, your going to pay! If you want to go that route, I suggest you save up a little longer and get a good LSD... you'll thank yourself later!!

Yea Quaife or Kazz, I hate those Phantom Grip ones. But if you want one that is a little less expensive then just go with an OEM one.

I've got a Phantom Grip in my EG, and they aren't *too* bad. My transmission happened to be out when the shop got its first shipment of PGs in. I got offered to have it put in for $100, so I said f'ck it, ok. First off it is NOT a real LSD, and whether you should put it in your car depends entirely on what you use it for. In a strait line, it feels just like a "true" LSD. When you pull into a turn, however, the difference is very clear. For about half a second, the car will push a bit. Not as bad as with an open diff, but there is a deffinate delay before the nose digs in. Obviously for auto-x this is a terrible, but for a pure street/strip car it isn't a bad mod to have.
The PG doesn't act like a solid diff either. The car's turning radius is exactly the same, and the front doesn't hop in tight turns like a 4x4 with locked diffs does. Also, the tires have not worn any faster than normal. I wouldn't bother using the thing for an SOHC since JDM options are so cheap, but for a DOHC where Type-R diffs are super expensive too, a PG might be worth it

quaife get
from me. the difference is night and day with an open differential. if you're in the market for one anyways, spend the money for it--lifetime warranty
too.

i woudlnt say its night and day. id say its night and day in the corners. on the strip though i pulled just as good of 60fts with open as i did with LSD. granted this was NA not turboed.
