Default Extended wheel studs

I am wondering what is the purpose of having extended wheel studs? Are they another form of wheel locks, purely for looks, or maybe so you can put different rims on???? I am thinking about getting some but do want to if its just for looks. Thanks.

Most of the time it is for putting wider tires on the front for drag racing cars. Skunk2 makes a set and they use them on their off-road race cars. In the past I had put 17's on my em and the studs were fine. I believe it is only for serious racers only. It is purely a waste of money if your doing it for looks. Make sure you do more research on them if your serious about buying some.

They're required for certain classes in drag racing. They can also allow you to run spacers. Judging by your question, you don't drag race or autox, so I don't know if you need them. Just my $.02

Longer studs gives you more time to realize a wheel is loose, before it actually falls off

Why don't you just paypal me the $50 or whatever it costs for extended lugstuds. You get the same amount of benefit as buying the extended studs (no benefit). I get a $50 benefit.

I figure that by doing this, atleast SOMEONE (me) stands to benefit. It makes more sense than buying the wheel studs.
