weird noise coming from engine????
yeah, i was wondering if anyone had a similar problem like mine. its coming from the engine near the belts and its not the belts that is screeching or loose. it sounds as if there is a blender in there. it sounds similar to a blender or more than a blender.
Doesnt sound good at all bro. I'd make sure its not the internals of your engine if I was you.

Its probablly the tensioner on your timing belt. Mine was doing the same thing until yesterday when the belt finally slipped off. Yea stuck on the side of the road. I will tear it down thursday to inspect for damage. I would recommend fixing it now or it can be casatrophic to your engine if the belt breaks or comes off...I have been reading these forums for years even though I just have a commuter car. Good thing jdm replacements are only 750.00. This is my 2nd D15B in 5 years. 555000 what else could I ask for in a car...

well, earlier today i did what you said and checked the timing belt. however, it wasn't the timing belt at all. so what im planning to do is to take all the belts off and start the engine to hear where the sound is coming from. if i still hear the noise, i plan to do trial and error, and put one belt on at a time to find where the noise is coming from. ill keep you updated in 3 days from now. Im too busy with school for right now but ill reply back on friday.
lovelove, how did you check it? The reason I ask is because I checked mine by pulling off the grey cover on the right side of the valve cover and noticed the belt seemed fine with the normal slack prior to monday when it took a dump on me. I do believe the only way to check the tensioner is by removing the front wheel and pulling all the outers off the engine. Is this what you did? I sure hope its something else in your case, but I assure you in wasn't in mine. Keep us posted..

Take the valve cover off and check for anything out of place. I had this and an adjuster screw had come loose, was sitting in the top of my head. I replaced it and did a valve adjustment, it was like new.
well, im not planning to take the front wheel off because i checked the timing belt and it seems like one side of the cam gear is tighter than the other side. dont know how to explain it but it is normal or fine. well, i dont really know for now but im guessing its the alternator thats making that sound. dang, it sounds like its whirring or sounds like a blender. i dont know yet but ill keep posting it up. im planning to check it out on friday. no time to check it out.
hahaha....i finally...well sort of found the problem. i took out all the belts except the alternator and timing belt. turns out it wasnt the power steering belt. it was more like the ac belt. well, with the ac belt acting upon it, it turns out that maybe the bearing on the ac compressor or a pulley is rattling. but its not the belt. dont know much how to fix it but im gonna use the doctor's hearing thingy majig and find out later. later yall.
probably AC clutch or actuator then if the belt's good. I had one go out this year, and it made horrible noises. Wasn't particularly hard to fix, and I got a used clutch from the junkyard for $6. OEM is about $100 from Honda.
Well I found 12 teeth off the timing belt at the crank pulley. Put a new belt and water pump on and set up the timing. Car fired right up with no more blender noise. I lucked out and had no valve damage. Funny thing was that sound I had been hearing was the timing belt yelling replace me. I guess the slop from the belt was what was causing the sound. The tensioner was good as well. Already 500 more miles on it since Thursday. Good luck fixing your ride.
