Default 1990 accord lap belt buckle/seat removal?

Hello,

The locking mechanism on my driver side lap belt buckle is not working, and I'm looking for a replacement buckle. Has anyone done this and knows what would work? I saw this (supposedly) universal belt and mechanism, http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...S-SBELT-2.html

I'm a bit wary because it says slight modifications may be necessary, so I'm not sure if it would work in my car. Also, does anyone have experience removing the seat and/or replacing the buckle?

The seat belts have a lifetime warranty from Honda for the usable lifetime of the car. So long as it is a safety issue (if it doesn't lock obviously it's a safety issue) you can take it to any Honda dealership and they should repair/replace it for free. If they try to give you any crap call American Honda and they will sort it out for you.

This is their clause - "Seat Belt Limited Warranty - Seat belts that fail to function properly are covered for the useful life of the vehicle"

You are the man. What about the shoulder automatic mechanism? If it does not completely lock in drive position does it covers that? Also the belt is loose on the slack, is that cover under the lifetime warranty? I hate the automatic seat belt b/c it keep getting the visor caught if I don't remember close up the visor. I still have to buckle the lap belt any way.
Thanks.

I'm actually not 100% sure on those automatic seat belts. My personal thought is it the driving position of the belt doesn't lock into place correctly then it would not be effective in a crash and would be a safety issue.

I think I would call the American Honda number first to see their take on those.
