trading in my 05 accord for a newer one
i wanted to ask you guys for some opinions on what to do. my accord is sitting at around 51,000 miles. it's 2005. model is LX. iam leaving for iraq on wednesday and i wont be back until mid to late 2010.
i was planning to trade my 05 accord in for a black 09 accord V6 EX model. How much money would i get for my trade in? also i plan to put a body kit on the new accord. but i dont want it to look ricey. i just want the front and sides and back done. lowered a little bit. maybe change the front lights/ cold air intake / an exhaust with the silencer on it so it's not roaring loud / and rims. what kind of rims would look good on a black accord?
what are some good models, brands to go through for these? iam absolutely clueless about stuff like this but it's something i want to get into and learn about. Any advice would be much appreciated. I just made this account today also.

You can probably get around 7k-9k for ur trade depends on the condition, 09 accord is sweet im assuming u mean the coupe v6 6sp, cuz that would worth the money not the auto, and if u mean the 4dr v6 then ull have more searching to do cuz parts on not out yet, most aftermarket parts are just being made for this type of car so by 2010 u should be able to find parts when ur ready, u can do black on black rims that would look sweet, but theres a lot of styles to choose from. G/L with everything and if ur going to iraq to serve thankz, and if not be carefull.....
thanks man. well i dont know how to drive stick lol. iam originally from boston and the traffice there is crazy. not quite like nyc traffic but its close. i plan to get the coupe v6 auto. i dont plan on racing it or anything, just want it to look nice. maybe a few mods here and there to make it faster. Iam lazy and i cant drive with my left hand so manual is kinda out of the question unless i somehow learn really quick.
i was thinking black coupe accord with my front lights tinted light blueish. hid's. angel eye lights. blue rims and blue brakes.
right now blue book says about 10 grand and some change for a good condition for my car. but i heard when u go to dealerships they give u much much less than that. when i mean much less i mean like 5-6 grand?. i hope not though. ive never traded a car in before.
p.s. (i have the title if that means anything to the trade in).

Why are you looking at an '09 Accord? Why buy a new car just to put it in storage for 18 to 20 months? Just sell the '05, then pick up an '11 when you come back.
Ok so you are looking for an Accord EX or EX-L with the V6 and the auto.
Since I am new on here I will let you know I just started working for a Honda Dealer near Houston, TX.
First let me tell you how car dealers look at a trade. You have an 05 Accord LX with 51k.. mine is the same but I have 52.5k. If you sell the car yourself you will typically make more money, becuase you have to clean, prep, advertise, figure out what a good price is, what they are currently selling for in your area etc, plus of course they want to make money just like you. The reason they buy the car for less and sell it for even more than you can ask is becuase they offer a short warranty that gives a buyer confidence they aren't buying a lemon.
If you look on Edmonds or an NADA book you will typically see 3 or 4 prices. Individuals usually use Kelly Blue Book and dealers use Kelly's black book or NADA. The TRADE IN VALUE will be what you can expect from a honda or other dealer for your (and my accord also) you should expect to get between $7400 to 9050 depending on how good of shape it is in. Mine runs perfect but it has two small sets of dents on the rear passenger door. so I would expect to get around 8k to 8.5k becuase they would want that repaired.
The PRIVATE PARTY VALUE is what you should expect to get from the car if you took the time to sell it yourself. you would get $9300 to 10900 for it this way, so you could make around 1500-1900 more minus probably 300 or 400 dollars to have it detailed and advertise it.
The SUGGESTED RETAIL VALUE is only if the car is in great shape and if they were a Honda dealer, your car would have to be stock or factory modified only, never been in a wreck or repainted, and would have to pass a 150 point check, they would ask about $13,500 + they would give you a warranty for the car. If they couldn't get the car to do all those things they would most likely sell it at auction.

As for your new car you want. Even though I am here to sell cars I would have to ask, if you aren't going to be in the states for the next 12-18months. Why not just sell it and buy what you want when you come back?
If you do want one, you are going to pay around 26.5 to 31.1k depending on if you want a sedan or coupe. They will probably have some options already added on to the car and a mark-up, but MSRP is probably possible after a bit of negotiation.
For your Mods...
I love TireRack for their Wheels and Tires... I like the way the Motegi's look.. Take a look at the SP7 in black with the machined lip. If you do buy tires and wheels you may want to keep your originals and put some wheel dressing on them every 6months or so and put them back on when you go to trade.
For dropping I do like the Eibach's, choose how much you want to drop, H & R are also very reputable, for your shocks/struts Koni is the biggest name, Eibach, H&R and several others like Billstein are great.
For a body kit, I hope you realize that is money you will never get back from a dealer, you might even lower your trade value. That being said, you may get up to 25% back on the money you spend if you sell it yourself. I have been looking into body kits myself, the good ones are very expensive, and I can't tell whether any of the cheap ones are good, so maybe someone else will have suggestions on that.
Hope it helps, and feel free to drop me a note or PM if you have more questions.

P.S. If any of your friends or military buddies are near Houston, tell them to drop in, I give good honest sales, and go out of my way to help our military friends, and my sales manager is army too.
Feel free to write me about in questions and refer all of your

Do yourself a favor, don't listen to anyone that says put black wheels on a black car..............next thing they'll be telling you to tint your tailights black too so you can look like everyother dweeb on the road.
This would be why everyone refers to the tuner scene as cookie cutters...........
just venting, sorry guys, but I wish people would get some freakin orignality!
