wow dude, its either the oil pump or the main seal. take the f-ing cover off and look for yourself instead of sitting on your *** and having other people solve your problem. as a matter of fact, i would even fix it for you just to further prove my point.

get your hands dirty, powertard.

Wow, way to be a useless jackass. So either the oil pump or the main seal is leaking? Are those the only options? And why would you suggest the oil pump, over say, the cam seal, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket?

To the Op. There are a couple of things that could be the source of the oil leak. When looking at that side of the motor are you able to see any oil leaking out of the upper timing cover, basically the top half of the motor? If so its likely its the cam seal or valve cover gasket. If the top half looks clean then its likely it the crank seal(front main seal) or the Oil pan gasket. Its highly unlikely that the oil pump is leaking unless you had it replaced recently.

But since you said it leaves a ~3in wide puddle when parked its more than likely the cam or crank seal, that is unless you recently removed the valve cover (a pinched valve cover gasket will puke out oil). And an Oil pan gasket leak are generally slow and small.

Since you'll be in there replacing a leaking seal, you should plan on replacing the timing belt and water pump, especially if any oil got on the belt.

i would look at the oil pan gasket and the crankshaft seal.
even the oil pressure switch on the back of the engine.
common issues for this area...
good luck....

I would not call it unprovoked, how the **** is anyone supposed to diag an oil leak from that description? Yeah, it's from the timing belt side....okay....take the ****ing cover off and look. None of us can do that from over the internet, and that is the only way to actually find out what the problem is. This thread is pointless.

lol...not that it matters, but I paid for all my cars and bikes myself, and I've been an ASE master tech since I was 20 (averaged 96% on the 8 ASE tests). First in state for automotive diagnostics, 4th in the nation. Certified tech by Nissan, Toyota, and Honda, for diagnostics and hybrid systems.

What did you do to find the leak? Pull the cover off. What should you have done before you posted? Pull the cover off.
