Default Dual wastegate setup questions

I am running a dual tial 38mm vms setup. both have .9 bar springs. what psi can i go to to where the boost levels will be consistent. i know on a single wastegate setup you aren't supposed to go much past double the spring pressure. i am trying to run around 35-40 psi on my setup and would like to get the wastegates situated before on the dyno. thanks

we run .6 bar springs in our wg's with the NLR boost controller/ C02, we can pretty much whatever boost level we want to, and its consistant.

Yeah the doubling spring pressure thing is only really for manual boost controllers. Just get a good EBC

I have no problem running 4x my spring pressure with no C02.

very intrested in this. i just bought a .5 bar spring because everything i know says x2 is the limit. i think i'm going to get the lightest spring i can from tial, and compare the response @12 psi vs a 12 lbs spring.

c02 goes to the inlet side of your boost solenoid, where it would normally be hooked up to the intake manifold.

Just using Hondata for boost control. 10 psi spring and I'm at 40 psi at 80% duty cycle.

every car/set up is different. its rare to see results like bens. it seems the bigger turbo's have an easier time making more than 2x the spring compared to the smaller turbo's.

chris, let me know when you want an AMS-1000

Maybe its the way the boost controler is hooked up?Manifold pressure off turbo or intake manifold, lines used?

yeah hopefully the new turbo im using will allow me to run more then double the spring pressure. turbo is a gt4094r with a twin scroll 1.19ar exhaust housing. using 2 of the new tial 38mm v-band wastegates. still using an apexi avcr. i really want to change over to the nlr but money is an issue. heres a pic of the new setup. car will be tuned on the 21st this month so wish me luck.

looks good chris!!

if i was you....knowing how torquey the vr6 is....i would grab 3 or 4 psi wastegate springs, an ams1000, and a c02 bottle. the ams-1000 is expensive....but what good is having power if you cant control it!

you dont have to use c02. you could drive it on the street with it hooked to manifold pressure and then when at the track run the c02. even if you run the c02 on the street, if you dont have any leaks the c02 lasts a really long time.

The amount of boost you can make over spring pressure is entirely depedant on exhaust backpressure. Once you have manifold pressure on the top and bottom of the gate, it's spring pressure vs. exhaust backpressure. That's why race cars can often make 3-4x spring pressure with no co2 and street cars generally have trouble making much over double spring pressure. I am able to make almost 5 times my spring pressure with no co2 on my car. Has nothing to do with your boost controller.
