Default why not rota??

So I know I just joined this forum, but it seems like most people on this site are anti-Rota wheels, and I was kinda curious why. Or why people are so anti-anythin that doesnt cost at least 1500? Not bashin ppl or tryin to be a dick, but I run 17" Tenzos on my car, everyone who has seen em loves em, but I have been considerin a set of 16" gunmetal gt3s. Can someone fill me in on what the deal with hatin rotas are?? I mean a legitimate answer, not teenage boys sayin 'cuz they suck' and all that bs. thanks

I think there have been 100's of topics about this.
Just use the search if it's working...
Personally i don't care what kind of wheels people use, it's your money and your car.

I'll explain why people hate them and I'll use shoes as an example.

You know how some guys are really into collecting Nike Dunks? I mean, they wait in line for hours and pay premium to pick up some rare, limited collection Dunks just so they can be one of the few that has them. It's their hobby and that's what they're into.

Now image if some company started selling exact copies of Nike Dunks at the mall. $30 a pair. Exact color, theme, look - everything. Except that these copies didnt have the swoosh and were made of cheaper material. Wouldnt that **** people off? You wanted some rare shoes and paid good money to rock them - but now some 13 year old kid has the same shoes but it's fake. And now, people come up to you and start asking if YOUR shoes are fake. You'd be pissed.

It's kind of the same deal with Rota's. Now everyone who wants gabs, racing harts, work, or mugen wheels can just buy the fake version and act like they're the ****. Some guys took pride in hunting down, paying good money, and owning a rare set of wheels. Rota pretty much killed that segment. That's why people hate Rota's.

Another thing about these wheels...they look good but that's about it. They're not impressive or anything. No one will look at your car with Rota's be super impressed. Because anyone with $500 bucks can do the same thing. It's like going to Payless Shoes and picking up some fake Adidas. No one will think you're ready to get down to business.

I just wanted to add that the only...only legitimate reason to rock Rota's is because your car is a daily driver and you dont want some fools to steal your wheels/car.

But if you love your car and want to take it to the next level, you cannot do it with Rota.

Rota = cheap ****.

Jayel is right on with his answer. I think it's funny though because some people make a huge deal out of rotas. I had some rota center caps laying around and sold them on craigslist. When the guy met up with me he had some Drag wheels and he said, "Yes! Now I can make my wheels look like real Rotas with these." Real Rotas? That's like saying, "Wow, a real ebay intake!" Something along those lines... However, I do think they are a very quality wheel for the price. I've gone through a few slipstreams for my Daily but I wanted the bling factor :p

fake rim means it is a copy of another wheel

maybe you'll understand w this analogy:
go get your girl or wife a counterfeit aka copy/replica Gucci, LV, Prada etc handbag. have her go to a REAL Gucci, LV, Prada store w all of her friends & ask the salesperson if the bag is real. watch the reaction on her face & her friends when she finds out its fake. think you'll be getting her pu$$y ever again??

I roll on Rotas and personally, part of the reason people hate them is because Volk, Mugen, Spoon, Gabs, etc. made the wheel design and that's the company's work and now their company is getting jacked because Rota, Drag, Spun, SSK, etc. is making a replica of the wheels they make.

On the other hand, the REAL wheels look a HELL of a lot better than the fakes. As much as they are the same, there are some things that make that REAL wheel look so much better and of course there's the quality.

What I really think is Rota made their wheels for the budget tuner, not to rip off the companies (Well, maybe.)

Whatever, your car, your money.

There's nothing wrong with rocking what you can afford but don't fake the funk like you got hot **** if you don't. I can't believe how many threads that are like this are on this website.

I never understand y ppl target Rota specifically. There are other companies that make replica wheels of the original Japanese wheel design(Konig, Speedy,Tenzo,Axis,RH,q8 wheels, etc...) and these companies never come up in discussion. And these companies in my opinion don't make a better wheel than Rota. The real deal wheels are great don't get me wrong, but it is unrealistic for your average joe. I mean 2k for a set of wheels is retarded for someone working a 9-5. If you got the money then by all means, ball outta control.

I think its funny people get so pissy about rotas. They are good wheels, look Ok and are pretty cheap. Everyone wants the real deal because they are alot nicer, but not everyone has or WANTS to spend that kind of money on a set of wheels. And yeah, its real funny so many people are so hot for axis as an example and they are just knockoffs, in fact alot of rotas look better IMO. who the hell cares about rota? We can all enjoy the ballers wheels, its just not necessary to flame someone because of inexpensive wheels that they didn't have to get a loan to buy.
