Default Who has Michelin Run-Flats

i have the 2006 Honda Odyssey TOURING edition. the tires have been in need of replacing for over 3 plus months. i put about 25K-30K on them before they started turning bald.

my point ??!! THEY ARE STUPID EXPENSIVE. $350 PER TIRE ??!! INCLUDING MOUNTING AND BALANCING ?? AND UP TO 3 HOURS ??!! what was i thinking.......

AND to top it off, Michelin decides to discountinue the tires, AND they urge not to switch to conventional tires because the touring edition suspension was tuned on the run-flats......

FLAME ME OR FLAME ON !!

BS. Get whatever tires you want. Check out Tire Rack. They have a store search feature that shows reviews of shops and pricing. You should be able to get 4 good tires mounted and balanced for around $500 or less depending on the tires.

I work at a honda dealer and will tell you these tires suck to change! If you look you can find tires fairly cheap but make sure it's the right size... tirerack does carry them!
We charge 220 a tire plus 68 to install them! it's about 1200 or so for 4 tires and alignment

OR

Call michelin and bitch about the tread life, I know they have covered 50% of some tires!

I made this post on HT's evil twin site a year or so ago.

If you are questioning whether or not to buy a vehicle with this system I say you should not for several reasons;
1. The tires will not yield much more than 25K miles before they need to be replaced.
2. Replacing the tires will cost you in the neighborhood of $1,000 (usually higher) parts and labor.
3. Only Michelin tire stores and Honda dealers are able to service the tires due to it's unique bead/ wheel system.
4. American Honda has now made Pax system tires optional on 2008+ Touring Odysseys (it was standard equipment)

If you are currently stuck with these wheels You may do as other owners have started to do. Purchase a new set of wheels and tires from The Tire Rack, or a set of wheels that fit a 2005+ Odyssey or Ridgeline from a Honda dealer.

thats awesome information !! tires should last longer than 25K. especially since we just do regular city and highway driving. its so dumb, i dont want to pay 350+ wait time to get the tires etc and knowing my honda dealership they will find 10 other things to do to the car while its up there ..........

no way ?? does michelin really cover 50% of tires?? EXPLAIN but i do like the run flat technology. i got a flat on the highway, and all i did was just drive in the right lane and cruise at 50mph until i got serviced. of coarse, this happened years ago lol.

i respect that your a honda technician, but im sure you agree these tires are a$$ lol. and at 80 lbs a piece??!! thats why the van weighs so damn much

thanks guys ^_^
