stereo pros need your help yet again....this time 3000GT/Stealth..please..
ok, first off thanks again for all your continued help with my never ending "favors" for friends in need. Here is what we got. 98 3000GT with the OE infinity premium sound system including changer. NEver mind the fact that the original one stinks real bad and should never be played at loud levels.
As it stands now, all, yes all the speakers have been replaced in only 3 months of ownership....dont ask, he is ruff on stereos. Anyway, time for headunit swap. He purchased an Awia double din unit. Wired up correctly by me, only getting full sound from rear speakers and partial from front ones.
What gives? possible solutions:
--original infinity amp removeal??
--run new wires to doors?
What am i overlooking or doing wrong. The changer isnt going to work, i understand that, its going to be replaced anyway. But for now, what am i missing?????
TIA as always

i dont remember that car to well because its been a while since ive done one but i know there is an amp under the seat i dont remember if you cant trigger it with the blue / white wire on your after market headunit or if you have to bypass the amp ( run four speaker wires to it ) but it is one of those two examples just dont remember which one it is
ok, i guess i wasnt clear on what i needed to do. I want to bypass the amp all together. It doesnt sound that great and has some crossovers built into it. Could i just run speaker wire for the front speakers to the amp? Now the problem comes of how to ID the specific wires that are the front channels??? NOW WHAT????????
is there anyway around that??? such as running the wires to the amp where it meets up with the plug??? This would save me the time of getting the wires through the doors. However, if thats even possible. The 3000 has hard connection plugs from the body to the doors making it tricky or impossible to poke through as you would in a rubber boot setup. Now what????
lol i guesss i wasnt clear either you odont need to run wires to every speaker in the car all you havee to do is unplug the amp you can use a 9 volt battery to pop the speakers to fing out which speaker is what to do this youll want to run the 4 speaker wires just to under the seat disconnect all the plugs from off the amp if you look closely you will see one of the plugs will have a lot of wires comming off of it i think the pulg is black now like i was saying when you look closer at the plug you will see that there are 4 PAIRS of wires twister together those will be you speaker wires now i wouldnt cut off the plug all together but you can now if you strip back one of those pairs of wires that are twisted together connecnt the positive and negitave of the 9 volt batt to those wires you should hear a popping sound from the speaker that the wires are connected to if you can see the speaker and your in correct phase the positve of the 9v connected to the positve of the speaker the same with the negative youll see the speaker move out just keep doing that till you find all four and connect them to your head unit and your done it sounds like alot but should take you like an hour alot less time than running wire to the whole car esp. through the door TRUST ME !!!!!

really cool test method. Man, have i been spending all day. I have been back probing each wire with connected channels trying to get sound in the past.
ONe question however. I understand what correct "phase" is. however, how can i tell if i have it correct or not. Wont it also pop if reversed???
