Default Car Will Crank and Turn On, but When Key is let go Dead.

This has been bugging me for weeks, I checked the posts but no one seems to have this problem, what's happening is when I turn the key to start the ignition the car will turn on with some hesitation, yet when i let go of the key to leave it in the regular on position the car will cut off...any help would be greatly appreciated. I swapped my dizzy ignitor with one from an f-series: didnt work, I tried to jump it: didnt work, checked the alternator and it's fine.

Ignition switch is not making contact in the "run" position. Replace the electrical portion of the switch.

I just had the same problem last week and it was the ignition switch.

x3, same thing happened to me when I went to go home from work a couple of months ago. Replaces the electrical portion where the contacts had worn out and problem solved.
