S2000 ITB Questions
So i have a 2001 S2000 and its got ( as of right now ) K&N drop in air filter, MEGAN header, and factory exhaust. This car is my daily driver I'm not really wanting to build it as a power hourse or anything but a little bit extra would be nice. So I decided that I would just ITB it instead of boost or supercharging because i think it would give me noticable power without making it a powerhouse. SO my question is what kind of numbers am I looking at adding if I do this? What all do I need to do to get ready for this( injectors and whatt not..)? Is it going to be safe to run on factory internals ( recently rebuild internals at that with factory parts ).Or am I just wasting my time and better off sinking 5k into the Greddy Turbo kit? Help me out here guys give me some idea as to what I need to be doing.

save a lot more money and go with 4.77's... youll be very pleased with the outcome... even though it wont give you "power", it will improve your acceleration...
IMO i wouldnt go that route. you gain huge amounts of midrange (ive seen up to 40ish whp tuned) but your peak whp will not improve drastically for the amount of work you would need to do. also, its definately not just a "bolt-on". to take advantage of it you need to have some time of fuel manaagement system and its a pain to tune.
like someone else posted, id rather just sc or turbo it.
also, if you do a lot of hwy driving i definately do not recommend the 4.77.

Here is the list why the greddy kit BLOWS. The exhaust manifold is made for an internal waste gate turbo. You wont be able to upgrade to a better turbo. The turbo is an internally wastegated 18g. You might be able to get away with putting a 20G on but you still wont be able to make much power. If you plan on making more power you will also need a new down pipe. The down pipe has the bump tube built in. The injectors are 440CC i believe and thats very small and wont let you boost much more not that the turbo would be able to handle any extra boost. The kit comes with a geddy e manege; the greddy e manage is a piggy back not a stand alone like the AEM EMS or K pro. Having your car tuned on a piggy back is hardly a tune it all and it just wont drive like a car on a stand alone management.

All the above are good reasons not to get the kit. that is unless you are 100% satisfied with right around 300 whp, then it is a perfectly fine kit. but if youre gonna spend the money, you might as well spend a few more to have something with much more potential.
plus no one mentioned the greaddy kit is smog same and youll pass inspection with it.
do the itb's its ur dd and you get the power whenre you need it midrange. it will cost alot and its a bitch to tune but do it anyway. and you dont need to build your motor for itbs all your doing is letting the motor breath better so no need for a motor rebuld.
goodluck

the ITB's aren't worth the money and hassle. you have to get a standalone to run them and the tune will never be great since you can't run ITB's and a MAP sensor. you can only tune them based on the TPS which will only be good at the exact atmospheric conditions you tuned the car at. any change in weather or especially altitude and the whole tune will be thrown off.
for the power you'd gain with the ITB's just spray a 50 shot, you'll spend a fraction of the money and have more power. that'll tide you over until you go boost
and if you don't want tons of power (400+whp) go with the SOT supercharger kit. you get 310whp out of their lowest psi kit and the power is instant. the kit maxes out at about 375whp so if you can live with that then why wait for turbos to spool up?
honestly though, you get used to power and you'll want more, at least get something that'll give you the option of more power down the road. and at least right now for the S, a turbo kit is the only thing that will do that. maybe if kenne bell starts making supercharger kits for the S you could have a 500whp supercharged S, but until then go turbo with one of the better kits.

X2, the Greddy kit blows, nobody on S2KI has bought one and not modified it or gotten rid of it completely over time. unless you live in Cali and need that CARB sticker, don't go this route. for the same cost as the greddy kit you could go inlinepro or CFT and have more power and more potential to upgrade later for the same money.

as stated above, to get the most out of ITB's you'll need supporting mods like a good header, exhaust, cams and stand alone ECU ect. ITB's are more for purist hardcore gear head. if you're just looking for a little more power, you should have gotten a 2.4/2.5 stroker kit when you rebuilt your engine. that and a lower final drive should make you happy for a daily driver.
if you're looking for something in the 300whp, reliable and low maintenance, then get a supercharger.

If you live in California get the Greddy kit. There's nothing wrong with this kit. It gives the car more top end power and much more power down low. I'd recommend it over a lot of the SC kits, not to mention you can pick these kits up for only like $3-4k now. I had the CTSC and I got bored of it because it had no ***** down low.
Anyway, ITBs are a ton of work. It's CONSTANT tuning, you're almost never done tuning. And depending on where you live, ITBs are just not be a smart choice as the more dynamic the weather is where you live the harder it is to properly tune them.
That said the Greddy kit is good, but a lot of people do get power hungry with it, and unfortunately it does not offer a lot of upgradability. If you don't live in Cali just piece together a custom turbo kit. Can be done rather cheaply and limits are endless, although you'll need to change your headgasket if you want to do anything over 10psi, which is where you'll notice the difference between the other kits and the greddy kit anyway.
So cliff notes:
If you plan on running more than 10psi: go custom kit and change your head gasket. Otherwise, get the greddy kit.

i agree with everything said except:
the greddy emanage ultimate is actually a really good system. i use it, because an AEM EMS wont pass emissions OBD2 scan in NH. My car runs smooth, picked up a ton of torque, lowered vtec and makes 230whp with a J's 70rr headerback exhaust and j's header. I also have over 150wtq by 3k rpms, NA and 170wtq at around 5k.
The greddy kit is garbage and ITB's arent worth the money at all.
Youre better off with a SC or real turbo kit. Or bolts and a tune and maybe like 4.44 or 4.56 gears
