im lookin to swap a h22 into my ek.. BUT i found out about a h23 vtec today whiles shoppin for an h22.. anybody know any disadvantages or advantages of the h23 vtec over the h22?

 

Factory h23 VTEC is very very rare and expensive. Onless someone put an h22a vtec head on an h23 none vtec block like LS-vtec. Advantage? more power how much more? not sure but i think it's considerably more.

 

On the plus side they're going to be newer. They have more midrange, but the same peak horsepower number (200ps). They'll be set up for an Accord which means a few things will be different than a regular Prelude H22, nothing really big though.

Not rare as you think, I see JHOT imports on ebay selling sometimes 2-3 of them at a time.

 

if the h23 ur lookin at has the blue valve cover, its from the SIR accord.
It suppose to have 210hp stock. Also its hard to find internal performance parts for those engines. Items like cams and other stuff are very hard to find. But i think the engine is worth the price if not loook into the h22 type S with the red valve cover it comes with 223hp stock but its more expensive
