Boosted... its 1 of my options but..

what kind of heads can work with it ????

or do i have to swap for a bigger engine??

just put vitara pistons, eagle rods, CTR cams, adjustable cam gears and boost it.

you will spank a nice amount of cars with that build.
unless they are like a b series turboed.
but most are not

EDIT: i forgot to say GET IT TUNED so you can really spank most cars

 

what can u do with it? boost it you'll be beating most cars, if done properly

 

you can do anything you want to it. so some searching look over all your options. boosting is the most popular way. like they said, tune it well no matter what path you go with, NA or boost

how? the ctr cam is a DOHC and the single cam has both intake and exhaust lobes. the ctr has a cam for the intake and a cam for the exhaust. it isnt possible to use either on a sohc.

i love turbos... so i was thinking if i just need boosted but now i know what else do i need to put on my engine before turbo.. !!

d16y8s are usually used for all motor. d16z6 are for boost !! but obviously still can be done.

for the OP. I think if you have the option to go boost do it. You wont regret it. Even if its on stock internals it will be so much more fun at 7psi than stock. Or if you have the cash to get some work done to boost higher that would also be good. new pistons and rods ,head gasket and head steads. You can squeeze some decent power out of that

 

you CAN use a turbo on a y8 with it being stock. but you can only run about 10psi TOPS!
no more than that. but 5-7psi should do it

 

ok just to clarify you wont be putting ctr cams in a d16 and you will only need 1 cam gear.

the vitara build has become popular and yeilds fairly good results. my buddy has a d16y8 with the vitara build running 478whp and 10.3 in the 1/4 mile.

psi doesnt kill engines HP does, ppl run 16 psi with a small *** turbo

 

yes but too much psi gives you too much power with out your engine being properly setup!

OP you should also look into getting a good clutch maybe a stage 2 or 3 depending on the power you are looking to put down... Don't get a lighter flywheel cause you don't want to loose inertia with a turbo car! I would also look at get an lsd... and the obvious some sticky tires! I figured if you are going to build it you should look at all aspect and not just the engine... everything has to work together to give you the maximum amount of power!
