Default smog ?

I have a 89 crx with no motor right now. I can put any 92-00 d-series motor and still pass smog w/ no check engine light? Or i have to state ref.

the complete motor swap?
Or are you going to keep your intake and exhaust manifold?

Either way, if the smog tech looks at the block code you fail visual.
If he doesn't then you can most likely pass without a hitch.

Any legal engine swap requires a full swap from the ECU to the exhaust. The swap you are doing is very common and can easily be done as to not throw codes. It would then requre a visit to the ref.
