Default need some help with a mini me swap

this is the story, i had a d16z6 motor in my car and i spun a rod bearing and i dont have the money to rebuild it so i just bought another motor from a friend for right now which is a d15b7 block with a d16z6 head (mini me) it was just the long block so i had to use my intake manifold, distributor, tranny, and the wholes for the valve cover studs where stripped out so i had to pull my rocker assembly off my d16z6 motor to put on the new one. any way when i first put the distributor on it wasnt paying much attention and i put on wrong so when i started it up it broke the lil key at the end, i got another one from my friend put that on and still wont start so then i thought maybe the timing is off cuz i set it the same way you would a d16z6 when b4 it was set the same as a d15b7 when it was running b4 it got pulled out so i redid it and set it according to the d15b7 motor and it still wont start i checked to make sure im getting fuel and spark and both are there.

ive been running threw my head over and over and cant come up with any thing other than its gotta be something with the timing, either on the distributor or its still on the belt

PLEASE HELP ME!!! lol i miss my car and i need it back on the road as soon as possible

if youd like just give me a call on my phone if it makes it easier 239-322-7966 bc i know sometimes reading something doesnt always make the most sense lol

There's no reason to make more than 1 thread about the same thing, so I'll respond to your other one in this original one.

There should be a mark on the cam gear that is about 7 o'clock, and a matching mark on the timing cover as well. That is where you line the cam gear up for a D16Z6. Like here:

The D15B7 and D15B8 are the ones, that are set to TDC by having the left and right marks lined up perfectly with the head.

What distributor are you using? I ask this because the B7 distributor doesn't bolt up properly to the Z6 head. Only a distributor for the Z6, JDM the D15B VTEC (with the same head as the Z6), and the D15Z1 will work.

Along the lines of the distributor, are you sure you have the plug wires in the correct order? Like this:

i have the firing order correct, i know how the timing goes on the two motors, my question is which one do i set it for? the z6 or the b7? and yes i have the right distributor

i didnt do the build on this motor i just bought it from a friend of a friend b/c i spun a rod bearing in my z6 motor and just needed a quick fix for right now, it was just the long block and i used all the parts from my z6 on the new one.
