yep that's open deck

here is a comparison of closed deck vs open deck.

closed deck motors for stock are generally better for NOS and FI and handle more boost

here is open deck

here is a closed deck

actually, that is open deck...buts its a block that has been resleeved...see the supports inisde the coolant passages, thats to support the cylinder sleeves...plus the cylinder walls are thick as hell...

Good thread guys! The Accord forum has been lacking this type of material for awhile now. Although it belongs in other forums, I want to keep it here to educate the Accord frequenters more.

i dont see it that way.. the h22 which to me are accord related come in those two styles so to say.. and the h22 must be resleeved to run forged pistons.. so this is almost accord related

no...open deck is better for cooling...because the coolant is in the circle around the cylinder sleeves...hense why 90% of them are open today...

the closed deck is just stronger because the sleeves don't have anywhere to go

so is it safe to say that open deck will last long longer(since it has better cooling advantages) than an closed deck block?

92-95 H22A's are closed deck with OBD1 P13
'96 H22A is Open Deck with OBD1 P13
and 97-00 is open deck with OBDII -- or so i believe, correct me if i am wrong.

nope, not really, just closed deck is able to withhold more compression, more boost, and bigger shot of NOS on stock internals.

Only difference between all F22's are the VTEC head, different intake and exhaust manifolds, and someone sad the F22A6 has a more aggressive cam...I'm not sure about this though.
