Yes, I used the search function...
I have a USDM B16A in my EF which has been converted to OBD1. The alternator I am running is for a 90 integra. My alternator is going bad. I went and had it tested, and it only produced 11V charge power. Auto zone said it is supposed to charge at 14V. The alternator is still under warranty, but when I went to Autozone, they said that the type of alternator I have only produces 65A.
I asked them to search for the 94 del sol DOHC VTEC model, and it said that one produces 80A.
Is it OK to continue to use the alternator I am currently running and just warranty exchange it, or do I need to get a higher ampereage one?
The only reason I ask is because I think it might be better to have a higher amperage alternator due to the higher electrical demands of the VTEC motor.
Also, I think the alternator plugs for the newer honda motors are different than the one for the 90 integra...

no the plugs on obd1 are the same only obdII are different, vtec engines have no increased demand for power, the 65 amp will be fine unless you have a huge system and idle the car for long periods of time

Thanks! I'll swap it out tomorrow then. I'm so glad I don't have to cut any more wires, or spend more money on another part. After all the wiring I've been doing between the OBD1 conversion, hooking up gauges, wideband sensor and gauge, sound system, VTEC solenoid and pressure switch. I'm all soldered out!
