Default Best place for water-temp sensor

As title states, I believed I could place a water temp sensor inline with the upper-rad hose, but it seems its not the best place to get accurate readings.

where would be a good place then?

I would think the OEM location in the head just behind the upper radiator hose wold be as good of a place as any.

I guess I'd need to tap it in then? no other/simpler way of going about it?
