Default Cometic .051" gaskets??

Hi all

Has anyone ever used thicker Cometic head gaskets for the B18 GSR at all with good results? Iv been looking at a 51 thou thick one to drop my compression a bit for my stock build for safety. Does it make much difference?? I recon it makes it about 9.5-1 comp instead of stock 10-1, will i notice this after its tuned etc... Just wanna make my 1st boosted motor reliable as poss on stock engine for 300hp. Using an AFI street kit with .57 trim garrett in case people wondered.

Cheers Marc

get an oem gasket. you can never go wrong with those gaskets. also for 300 hp, stock compression will be fine. Do a search on cometic and you will see some horror stories.

Cometic .065" here, power level in the sig.... no issues so far after 1500miles this summer boosted, and 1500miles on NA break-in.

I run a .065" cometic on my boosted high compression "H" motor. Never had any problems. 480whp/380tq This year going for 600 with a pt67.

You see bad stories with any parts, that doesn't mean the part is bad. Don't forget who is installing some of these products.

Oem will be fine, we have used cometic gaskets in the past and never had an issue either.

Hi all

Put the cometic in. Stock itr, Crap ebay mani with **** wastegate port moved to stop creep, 57 trim, 440's made 290@ fly and 230 torq on. Gay mani and Boost creep made it bend 3 rods after it finally gripped the other night and hit 1.1 bar! Damn! Replaced and tuned to 235whp now on 7psi. Glad it wasnt my car, my mate warned the guy about the mani. The watsegate port was so poorly welded it reduceed to 15mm?? WTF??? Had to blank it off and relocate it!! Holds 7psi now. Cheers guys. Marc

how does your long story have to deal at all with cometic besides that you just saying you put one in?

OP just run a OEM HG people have made 300HP safely for a long time on stock compression
