Carbed Si?
Ok i just did a Carfax record check on my CRX which i thought was a DX or Hf but when i got the result i was supprised as hell when the car turned out to be a SI with a carbed engine! Now this makes me wonder about the EW2 designation on the engine. I know HFs and DXs used the EW1 and the Si used the EW3 but somewhere along the line honda built a few Sis with a Carbed EW2 engine and i wound up with one!!
now if this is true how many were built in this configuration? because this seems like it is a rare car. I will post the link to the carfax record result to prove that my car is in fact an Si with a 12valve Carbed engine.

I am not doubting you but are you sure it's not an "S". An Si can't be caburated with that title. Si stands for sport injected. Like all hondas the "i" always means injected or fuel injected. Example LX-i, Si, SE-i and so on. Oh and for the record Carfax isn't 100% correct. My Civic that was stolen, stripped and totaled comes up w/ a clean title w/ no problems. Believe me it was totalled. Do some more research, even have a Honda dealer analize your VIN.

my 86 crx Si is injected and is a ew4 as is my 87 crx si now at my pops junkyard there is a 1500 S with no injection but has teh 12vavles but its not a si and is a hatch i dont think there was a S crx
just a guess at least it is confirmed that the carbed Si did exist but they might have been sold as a one year thing possably sold as an S instead of Si.
wut part of SI dont u understand the s means sports teh i means injection if u have a carb u dont have a si unless someone put a carb on ur car....wut is the engine code on the tag on the passengers side of teh radiator support?????my si reads EW4 on my 86 si does ur car have a sunroof the si does the dx does not???

the engine code is EW2 and the Si is normally EW3. As for the Sunroof in might have been ordered with it deleted because of a tall driver or to bring down cost
no such thing a sunroof delete radio delete yes sunroof no....as for ur carfax report i think its wrong saying that u have a si teh crx came with a ew4 not 3 teh three was in the civic Si both of mine are 4s i think someone put a 12 valve head on ur block maybe.....and ur vin says u dont have a si a si would have a 4 in the 8th digit u have a 3 witch is not a dx or a si im not sure wut it is http://www.redpepperracing.com/forum...41688c351dffff go here they can help

The EW3 code came from the chiltons manual and as for the model you are not the only one that does not know what it is. I am gettin more confused about it by the minute lol j/k but seriously it is buggin me as to what this damn thing is
If it was sport injected, then every car honda has made since 1992 (all cars started to be full fuel injected) would be called SI's... doesn't the DX have the same flow rate as the Si's... I rest my case.

good thinking
What the hell are you talking about.. SI means Sport Inspired... not sport injected.
there was a s modle civic and then came teh si with injection a dx doesnt have teh sport suspension either
OK, first of all... who cares what Si stands for... For the record, though, it stands for Sport Injected. Ask any Honda dealer. Second, ALL CRXs were made in Japan. Third, if it's an Si, it'll be fuel injected and have an electric sunroof. Every single Si (be it the Civic, CRX, or Prelude) that Honda has ever made is like this. Fuel injected with power sun/ moon roof. If you have carbs and/ or a manual pop up roof, it's not an Si. Plain and simple. If it's got a power roof and carbs, someone swapped the motor on ya because it didn't come like that from the factory.
at this stage i am majory confused about this thing because it does not have a Fi engine and sunroof yet the vin checks out as a Si but the digit that indicates model does not match any of the models (HF DX Si) the site i first checked it on indicated it might be either a GL GLX or LX what the hell is goin in here????
It seems to me from what has been said is that all my CRX is a 1500 DX with a messed up engine code (EW2) and vin does that sound about right? Now if that is the case how many parts for an Si will interchange? I am lookin at the idea of installing a Strut bar and a header but the appications i found all said they were for the Si

If it makes you feel any better, when the 86-87 accords came out there was the DX and LX accord. Both of those were carbed motors. When Honda came out with a fuel injected motor, that car was released with the name LXi and the special edition was the SEi because they came with Fuel Injection. Shortly after that the other models began to get fuel injection, and that's when Honda's badging quit meaning anything, but the people here are correct. The i stands for injection.
Further proof can be found in the old sport civics. They were called S before the injection for Sport. After they switched to the multipoint, the car became the Si.
