Is a hot side of turbine weldable?
I've been fighting with exhaust leaks for almost a year. I'm really fed up with this. I plan to weld the exhaust side to the SS flange (this junction doesn't work now- seals, exhaust cement, decked flange- not working here) and then weld a V-band to make a connection with the rest of the downpipe.
Is it possible to weld the hot side to stainless steel? The turbo is IHI/BorgWarner RHB6 (I believe)
Thanks

chances are even if u preheat the **** outta it, and peen it while u weld it.
its going to crack because the expansion differentials are so great between those 2 products..
why cant u just pull the manifold off, and have the flange machined flat again.

Yes they can be welded if you are welding a cast iron turbo housing you have to use ni55 or ni99 filler rod. if its cast steel then just use ss308 filler rod
those compressors u posted are cast stainless.

^^^This is what I'd like to accomplish at the end more less. But the V-band won't be welded directly to the turbine but to the flange and then the flange to the turbine.
