Default b20 alternator in b16 Possiable?

HI ALL.

I want to ask if i can swap a b20 alternator into a b16,
the reason is extra 30 AMPS that b20Z alternator offer,

I am running a 1000rms sound system, having problem of battery discharging, very fast, even with the car is at Idel, the sound system amp starts to trip. after 5 mins of heavy music....

current alternator is charging at 13.5 to 14 volts at idel., the motor is B16A OBD0. DA8 chassy..

also I have read that b16 alternator is 60 AMPS where as B20z is 90AMPS...
Please update me if the specs are wrong...

it will bolt on and work, but im not sure about the difference in amps and such. i got out of audio a long time ago. im also not sure if the non vtec alt will like b16 rpm all of the time. ive ran ls alts on gsrs, before and had no problems.

Use a 94-95 gsr alt its is 92 amps I believe, and it will plug right in. the newer obdII alt have different plugs. you can also buy a rewound alt for higher amps they sell 130 amp ones.

Yes! the GSR alternator is 90Amps and will bolt on directly, but its not available!
Actually, b20 is the only alternate available, else i definitely had installed that hi amp alternator.

you can get the b20z alt and swap the whole rear section with the voltage regulator off your old alternator and it will plug right in. its just more involved. if there is a alternator re-builder near you(check the phone book) he can just rewind yours or swap the end to the b20z alt for a couple bucks
