I own a 99 Civic Si and recently won a CTR LSD from eBay. I have heard various stories as to whether or not this will work. Can anyone shed some light on this??
Drop-in?? Different bearings?? Or do I need a Type R tranny??
Thanks, Ken

Ok, if you want to put a Type-R LSD in your Si coupe/S4C transmission, you'll need to get the 4.40 final drive ring from a Type-R tranny..since the ITR LSD is larger in diameter than your stock Si's factory differential; which means the Type-R final drive ring is larger too, your Si ring is smaller diameter.
I know this has to be done to 92-95 hydro B16A tranny's ....but I'm not 100% sure about Si coupe tranny's. Although, you just might have the correct final drive riing size already. You'll have to take your trans apart (or to someone who knows how if you don't) and see for yourself though.
katman is right on the money. the ring gear is identical sized actually but the "hole" in the center is physically smaller. the LS and SIs share the same ring gear physical dimensions. ITR and GSR have a "bigger hole" in the center of the ring gear. get a ITR/GSR ring gear and slap that badboy in.

I recently bought a 99-00 SI tranny and just took it apart for the gears to use in my gsr case... when i compared the cases... (97 gsr case vs 99-00 SI case), they are EXACTLY the same. everything is exactly the same. Some people say you have to shave off a little material in the casing on a b16a case to fit a gsr diff.. but I didnt have any problems when i stuck my quaife in.

this may be a stupid question (maybe i'm not thinking right) but why wouldn't/couldn't you just bolt the whole CTR tranny to your motor?

Thanks guys. Actually it turns out the LSD is from a CTR, not ITR as I previously mentioned. I was a little excited because I got it off of eBay for a great price.
So, will I have any problems w/ a CTR LSD in my tranny??
Thanks

So, the Final Drive Ring is the part I would need from an ITR tranny. It would be part#8 on the diagram, right?

So, while I'm at it, I might as well just change the whole final drive ratio to that of a JDM ITR; the ring gear, the bearings and the few other parts, eh?
here's a better pic of final drive..
..if the your planning to buy a final drive from any US ITR tranny, you don't need the whole thing, you your Si coupe tranny already has the same final drive ratio (4.40), same as a US ITR and JDM CTR/JDM 95.5-97 ITR. To apply the CTR LSD you have, all you need is a 4.40 ring from any US ITR or GSR transmission...or JDM CTR or 95.5-97 ITR tranny. O speaking of...i actually have a CTR ring....come to think of it. hit me up if your interested.
Now, if you wanted to go 4.785fd, then you'd need all the listed parts in my diagram...

Sounds great. How much do you want for the ring ?? I won't have the funds for about 3 weeks, I used up all $$ on my vacation, actually buying parts for the car.
But just shoot me an email anyway at boostd.si@gte.net
Thanks
