I HAVE A 93 M2S4 TRANS AND I HAVE THE CHANCE TO GRAB A OEM M2B4 LSD FOR CHEAP. IS IT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL THIS DIFF INTO THIS TRANS? ALSO I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A MFACTORY FD. CAN I INSTALL THIS AFTERMARKET FD ONTO THIS OEM LSD WHICH WILL THEN BE INSTALLED INTO MY M2S4 TRANS. FOR ALL THAT CANT REMEMER, THE M2S4 TRANS IS A 4TH GEN USDM h23 TRANS(i believe?). **** i just realized that i was writing in caps. sorry about that.

ive been reading all the post in the FAQ and ive searched and ive came back with different conclusions about what is possible.

i have read that someone did do the setup the way i have described.I believe that this persons setup is as follows:
m2f4 gears and case(USDM...m2s4 may be the same)?
m2b4 lsd unit
4.71 final drive( which is not oem, but may be custom made and not physically the same size and mfactory lsd).

i have also read that someone took these trans's apart and did measurements and comparisions and found that oem m2b4 lsd would not fit into m2f4 or m2s4 trans.
im trying to piece eveything together. I have read and understand that the m2b4 trans cannot have a aftermarket final drive installed, due to some size issue of the m2b4 case.

Does ANYONE have anymore insite into this. ur input is greatly appreciated. or if you can point me to the right person to talk to...anything helps. thanks guys!

I guess i should throw this out there too....does anyone have any idea if the LSD out of a JDM Auto trans would work?

 

You've got it. M2B4 won't work in the M2F4 case, and the fd won't either.

I'd go for the Mfactory or Quaife diff even if the M2B4 worked. The aftermarket lsd's have a more aggressive bias.

 

thanks for the response.... Im still stuck on.. how it worked out for the person that did use the oem lsd into a m2f4 trans.... if i can find his username ill try to contact. anyone else got anything?

 

I've never heard of this working. The two parts are about a cm different width. There have been several threads describing this.

 

MGags had the Transmission you're probably thinking of and I bought it from him.

It's an M2F4 Transmission (Now this a M2S4 Gear Box Casing) with a 4.7 Final Drive and LSD. He thought it was an LSD from a M2B4, but when I told Scott (2point6) about it when I gave it to him to install he said the M2B4 LSD unit will not work with aftermarket FDs. He said he'd try to check it out and see what unit it had.. I forgot to ask him after the car was finished.. I need to contact him about something else, so I'll see if he remembers..

 

ohh..i see...so it was just a misunderstanding. ok then... thats helps. well i guess ill take my head out of that cloud. Aftermarket is the only way to go then.

 

If you some how come across the T2T4 or T2W4 LSDs, I think one of those might work for what you want..

 

will the M2F4 LSD fit in the Accord f22 vtec P2U5 transmission? I'm buying a 94 accord vtec trasmission and I'm thinking of swapping the final drives since the accord final drive is way too long.
