When my cars gas gets below half a tank, it'll want to cut out and sometimes die. Anyone know what's up?

 

My hatch just started doing this as well. I haven't had a chance to drop the tank to look into what is causing this problem yet. I'm suspecting that part of the fuel pickup came off the pump. Maybe someone can help us out!
