Pictures of my Supra build + story
(pictures under great book of text lol)
Over the years I've tried my hand at building up some of the nicest Supras I could. Each was a learning experience for me, and I got a feel for things I would and wouldn't do differently. Safe to say I know pretty much exactly what I want this time around and how to get it to that.
Almost a year ago I was headed to a car show/race event. The car slipped a ramp onto the trailer and damaged the rear diffuser and pumpkin. I had no choice then but to see if the car was drivable - it was. The day started off bad but I figured it could only get better.
Arrived at the show, not much competition in the Toyota category since not many Toyotas were there. At the end of the day I lost to JT (stock body with a front bumper). It was a little confusing to me but in car shows wheels and suspension hold king. I accepted my loss graciously and fairly. I was a little disappointed but It was a real learning experience for me, seeing what I needed to improve on and apparently what judges were looking for more than motor and exterior upgrades.
On the way home the car caught fire and was a total loss. I nearly lost my own life trying to save it.
I have a new car now. When I got it, it wasn't much. It has power and that was it. It had a ton of problems and was somewhat ugly. I got a presentable version ready for SILV and HIN but didn't have as much time as I had liked. Since it was a temporary version (before the widebody) I didn't put too much into it.
2 weeks ago I found out Import Face off was coming back to town. The same show all these bad things happened at. I stayed up all night on teh day I found out drawing up plans, thinking of ways to improve the car - to be the best i can make it. After a few days about an entire notebook of paper I came up with "If I were to build a Red Red nonwidebody supra this is exactly how I'd do it"
Since then some close friends of mine, myself, and my dad have been working around the clock nonstop to get my plans put into effect. Busted out my debit card, dipped into funds for the widebody project, and got to work.
To this point, every show I've ever entered in was PURELY for fun, socializing with other cool people, and learning. This one is all business. I have high hopes for this one. While I can't count on what type of competition will be there. I can say that I'll be bringing my absolute best to the table and hope thats enough. If it isn't at least I can say I gave it my all and that the outcome couldn't have ended any other way like it could have in the past.
I know. Bla bla bla. Onto the pictures!

This was a month before purchase. I can say the paint did not look that good in person.

I HATE polishing...

Crimson red pearl spark plug cover, polished valve covers, custom TRD oil cap, Jegs red/black -10 fittings

I'm so sick of polishing I'm done.

hoping this solves the overheating issues.

More BS wires =/
The stupid SP cover won't fit. I have a SP manifold and SP turbo... and naother SP product doesnt fit.... i'll need to trim it and mess with it to see if i can get it in.

FINALLY got my suspension on and the car lowered!

if anyone knows where i can get a new sticker...let me know... =,(

Yeah.. I scrubbed the wheel wells for hours... apparently cleanliness of the undercarriage is worth 5 points in this show. I'm going all out this time.

i've been wanting one of these for a very long time.

More updates and pictures in the coming days before the show.
Yes, the wheels at 345s.
Yes I am the only nonwidebody supra to EVER get these suckers to fit.
yes i am the only supra with CCW 550's.
Al robinson did the sound system, yes he is available for hire.
I think that about covers it for now?

After the show, widebody, repaint, etc etc.
I hate sound systems more than anyone. That's why it was so important to me that it was fully removable and followed the exact stock lines/curves. Multiple people have approached me asking if it was factory, if you look carefully everything blends. It also is pressure fit except for the box and will come completely out in just 5 minutes for racing.
Now the cool part about the screens is I refuse to play movies or anything like that inside my car, instead both are set as slideshows. The screen on the left/driver side displays pictures of the build while the screen on the passenger side shows pictures of past car's I've built. By no means is a 1,000+RWHP former drag car a "rolling entertainment center"

props for the amount of work/time/money put into it.
imo, building a car to win car shows FTL. you're building it to maximize the amount of points you'll get according to the NCCA rule books. i think that takes the fun out of building your own car. that's just my opinion. as long as you're having fun doing what you like that's all that matters, so don't even car about my opinion. can't wait to see what else you have in store for the supra!

At the end of the night a car without dynographs that did not dyno won highest horsepower and hottest performance vehicle. I had 4 dynographs(showing hundreds more than even the top car claimed) and was in line to dyno. Got in contact with the NCCA. They responded to my first email and asked what vehicle was mine. After I told them I never heard from them again; even send follow up emails later on.
I wouldn't build a car in accordance to one rule book or set of rules - ESPECIALLY that one. This show is not a NCCA sanctioned event, and I don't think I'll ever participate in another NCCA show. Everything you see here will change. Nothing is going to stay the same. Everything you see is only temporary. I did it to say I did it, and because I enjoy doing it. half of it was already done for Supras Invade Las Vegas. I figured I'd take what I had done and imrpove upon it for this show. Had this been any other show, I wouldn't bother to even roll it out of the garage. As I said, its the same exact show my last car was deemed a total loss because of and I wanted another shot.
If I would have never took the car to that show, I'd still have it today. It was on the freeway with miles of exits closed and heavy traffic. It took the fire crew over 20inutes to get there and by that time it was long gone. If it was anywhere in the city, it would have been put out before any real damage occured. So this one's personal.
do you have hi-res photos, i would like to print one out and put it on my wall.. if thats alright with you!
awesome build and OMG i want that car!
