I have 15" Regamasters that weight about 8.5lbs. I run 205/50/15 Pirellis. Would there be any benefits from having lightweight wheels for drag racing? I've heard that with wider tires, acceleration is hindered? Is this true?
I'm planning to run 555r's for the strip sometime (theyre cheap and I dont drag much).
Any input on the topic?

The motors ability to generate a decent time is dependant on multiple factors. The two important factors to illustrate your point are these.
1.Traction
2. Wheel RPM's
If you have decent traction, then it would be common sense that the more times you can make your wheels resolve under 100% traction, the better your time will be.
The ability to make a wheel revolve can be traced to the power the motor is putting to those wheels and how light those wheels are. If you have a lighter wheel, it will take less strain to turn those wheels.
So,yes, it does matter. I could get really technical, but I don't feel like it.
