i picked up an 89 Si yesterday. it drives lovely-ly, but the pedals are weird. both gas and brake need to be pressed down pretty far before anything happens. it feels like theyre "loose" almost. a good quarter of the full range of motion of the pedal goes in feeling like theres no resistance and without any effect on the car.

what do you guys think might be going on? how might i investigate and troubleshoot further?
