Default engine swap

iif i want to swap my 1.6 sohc non vtech out for a vtech sohc, will i have to do any wire harness changes? of course if i get the motor out of the same years. better yet what motors will firt right in? dohcs? i just want to plug and play. the car is an 89 crxsi. thanks for any and all help.l

stick a d16 y7 in it and use the d16a6 distributor. and before you get flamed on its vtec. v-tech is a phone. you'll have to use the y7 alternator and crank pulley and swap the plug out on the wiring harness. thats pretty easy to find on here. thats if the pics still work. y7 is nonvtec

youre gonna have to re-explain yourself man. before i get flamed on the vtech?, the vtech is phone? did you mean the vtech will burn my altenator?

uggh. vtec is a system found on honda engines. vtech is a brand of phone.

ahh gotcha! thanks man so that d16y7 is from what cars? im new to the honda thing, this is my first one. i know i can get this car fast with motor swaps but i dont want to get too crazy with wires. swapping a plug is one thing, but whole harness are another.

really cant swap a whole harness. you keep your white plug harness and modify to whatever engine u put in there.d16y7 is a sohc non vtec out of a 96-00 civic dx.any vtec engine added will also have to have the corresponding vires added for vtec and oil pressure. plus you will have to convert and use a obd1 vtec ecu. read the swap FAQ guide
