A quick search did not realize any meaningful results, I'm hoping the community can help me out with this one.

93 Civic Ex; 118k miles; stock everything; timing belt / h20 pump changed at 90k. I've owned it ~1 year, and don't know much else about the history.

Today I noticed a whining noise while driving. Sound is coming from the area where a/c compressor and p/s pump are. I almost immediately stopped. No fluids are leaking and are all at appropriate levels. Sound happens whether transmission is in gear or not (it's a 5 speed). Sound does not intensify or change when I turn the a/c on or move the steering wheel. Belts appear to be in good shape but it's dark and I cannot examine the entire belt.

Any thoughts?
