what dust boots do you use on your konis ?
I would really like to put some on my koni yellows, with Eibach Sportline springs.
I came across this post:

any other ideas ?

Don't bother with the steering rack boots. With my 2.5" ID GC springs, the boots would rub the springs and eventually tore the boots after a month or two.

Use your stock dust boots. If you're using OE-style lowering springs, stock dust boots will work just fine.

My Konis have been on my car almost 7 years and 170K miles now, with OEM dust covers on them most of the time (except for the short time I had GC's without the rubber boots, only a few months in the summer).
I would fully expect my shocks to not have lasted this long if I did not have dust covers over the piston rods.

Nearly 2 years daily driving now, and I'm running completely without any dust boots at all on my Konis.
I trust Koni to have used a good piston seal at the top of the shock body, but if thats insufficient I'll just make them make good on their warranty.

You don't think they would say "you didn't use the OE dust covers, therefore the shock warranty is voided"?
What do the instructions that Koni provides state concerning dust boots? (Threw mine away years ago.)
But no, I don't anticipate it being much of an issue. And if it is, well, there's my excuse for SPSS3 valving and "real" spring rates...
Something that other people should keep in mind anyway.

Dunno, I don't think the Koni instructions "say" anything, cuz it's really just pictures, and it shows installing the dust covers, I think. I dunno, my original Koni boxes are somewhere in the attic, I might look at the instructions again some day.
Thing is, how can they prove you haven't used the OE dust boots, or any dust boots for that matter? with, or without the boots, a shock with a broken seal at the top will get dirt inside the shock.
None.
Never saw a need to install them on my Koni 8041s. Drove through several winters of salty slush with them too. The damper bodies rusted to hell, all of the paint flaked off, and the GC sleeves seized onto them, but the shaft was still perfectly smooth and the shocks never leaked oil.
Are you sure you'll need them for all of those horrible massive blizzards you get in Atlanta?

^ lol.
lets put it this way: If I was to design a car, I would put boots on the shocks, no questions about that. Also, I don't know how long I'll be in Atlanta .. u know, in US people tend to move a lot.
anyways, I went throught AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, and Home Depot ... and didn't find anything that I could use. So I guess I'll count on my stock ones at being still in somewhat decent condition to be reused, though those dont look very good after 15 years of being on the car.
but thanks all for the responses
