Default inital cam timing settings

Hi everyone!
I have me a set of toda cam gears. I'm thinking of putting them in today and had a question about this. I currently have my timing set to 18 degrees btdc. When I put these bad boys in what would a good inital setting be? I don't have a dyno and unfortunatly am probably not going to get on one for some time!

So... the setup is pretty much bone stock.. I have an aem cia, and cat back exhaust, no cat, stock exhaust manifold.

The other thing is I don't know what marks mean what degrees on these sprockets... I got them used so they came with nothing. If pics would help let me know and I'll snap some.

if I'm babbeling like an idiot... let me know and I'll try to clear things up a bit.

thanks

Ive heard a general rule of thumb is advance the intake some, retard the exhaust some. Every car is different thought so you might just wanna mess around with a few different settings.

you dont know this stuff and you are trying to install it yourself? you may want to have someone do it for you before you screw something up and have bigger problems.

money is tight, I like working on my car. How did you learn? by having someone else do it for you? I know which direction is retard and advanced on the distributor.

Sorry I wasn't born a genius like yourself.... I guess we all can't be as gifted with infinite knowledge like you.

Im not familiar with Toda gears, but do they have the +/- on the gears? If so, + means advance and - means retard.

that's why I asked which direction is which... there is not + || - . it just has some marks on it. Center being 0 i assume... which is usually + above 0 or below 0?

Zero/zero until you get that pig on a dyno.

I come on here seeking help... not ridicule because I don't know everything. We all have to start somewhere. I see this **** all the time on this board... someone asks a question and all of a sudden they are the ******* because they don't know something.

Again... I apologize that I don't know everything, sorry I've only been working on my car for almost a year now and don't know everything under the sun about it!! I'll make sure I try harder next time to please everyone in the internet world!!

Note to self: Need help don't go to honda-tech.com

Try to do a search on Toda cam gears english instruction or Toda cam gears. The same question of how to adjust Toda Gen2 cam gears just came up twice 2 days ago!!
